Star Sign: Scorpio
Hometown: Athens, Greece
Where do you live now? I live in the beautiful island of Lefkada, in northwest of Greece.
Describe yourself in 3 words or less: spontaneous, responsible.
How much time do you spend in Lefkada, and what do you do here? The last 2 years i run an apparel & accessories store called Fabric Shop in Vassiliki,( www.facebook.com/FabricVassiliki ) so i spend more than 6 months in the island.
We only have one week in Lefkada - where should we go? Lefkada has some of the most beautiful and famous beaches in the world, so the first thing that you have to do is to visit Porto Katsiki and Egremni for sure, and all the rest beaches in the west side of the island, cause there are more than 10 huge beaches to visit and everyone is more beautiful than the other. Also Agiofili beach close to Vassiliki bay is very beautiful with amazing turquoise waters. You can also join the Vassiliki windsurfing and saling experience (Vassiliki is the top place in the world for beginners). Lefkada also has very traditional fish villages such as Sivota bay and some unique beauty at the top of the mountains. If you have the time visit the main land at the mountains of Lefkada, where are so many traditional villages (small and big ones) and small "forests" which are good for walk.
Your favorite little cove beach? Its like a secret spot for me that beach but i will exposure to you... its close to the Lefkatas Cape, just before the end of the island. Only few knows that place and the most times you can be the only visitor. You have a view of Meganisi island, Ithaka and Kefalonia.
Your favorite bigger beach? Probably Gialos Beach also on the west side of the island is the biggest, at the same time makes you feel like you are in a beach by yourself because of the size of the beach there is nobody close to you.
Favorite place for dinner? For me there is no better place to eat tasteful dishes in a an absolutely amazing environment. The name? No Menu – Ta Kalamia. The idea? There is no menu. All you can choose is between meat, fish or seafood , pasta or vegetarian, and then the chef decides what to serve to you. The experience is unbelievable cause you dont know that you are going to eat. And because of the no menu style, everything is so well cooked, and as he says“Food and Love by Vangel”. So ''kalh orexi'' (bon appetit). Its based at Nydri which is in the eastern center of the island.
Where can we find the best home-style cooking? There is a very small village called Nikoli, there you can find the only tavern named “Litharia”. Who is cooking? The 70 years old parents of the owner, who they cook like they cook for their own family, using their own products. Absolutely original…
Your favorite Greek dish? The cool riganada, homemade bread with olive oil, oregano accompanied by tomatoes and feta cheese.
Favorite place for cocktails? 155. It’s not just an number... it’s the first bar on the island to serve cocktails and not justcommon cocktails. You can choose from a good cocktail list, and drink it under the sound of jazz, soul and easy listening house music. Based in the main street of Vassiliki.
Best place to watch the sun go down? In the west side of the island wherever you stay and watch the sun go down through the clouds and the sea, the picture is unique…
Where can we buy some new threads? I could say about my store Fabric, which is in Vassiliki's main street, where you can buy clothes for men and woman, scarfs, beach towels, beach bags etc. But also in Lefkada's town or at Vassiliki you can find many shops with traditional food products and embroideries to buy and make special gifts to friends and family.
Who is inspiring you right now? The 70's. Great decade. Music, surf, classic cars and motorbikes. That was the style. Live free and inspire from that way of life.
Who is on your stereo? Thievery Corporation new album "Saudade". A wonderful mix of Electronic, Latin and Bossanova, is the perfect sound for the summer for me now.
Words you live by... They say its all Greek to me, so try these... Klain, kaaalaaa, erimin.... hahahahaha.
