Why Santa Barbara? Initially came here for school but developed art community, friendships and a cool studio that will keep me here.
How long have you lived here? 5 years
What do you do here? I am a fine art and portrait photographer specializing in historical photographic processes - in particular wet plate collodion process. My studio is in the funk zone.
Describe yourself in 3 words or less: intuitive, fluid and effervescent.
We only have 24 hours in Santa Barbara, where would you take us? We would ride bikes to Hammonds beach, we would go to my studio and I would photograph you, we would get paninis from Ca’ Dario pizzeria and take it to the rose garden with a bottle of Jaffurs Grenache blanc, and then we would return to my studio for an art show, bonfire and dance party.
Best place to watch the sun go down: Trout club
Best place to caffeinate? Lucky Penny
Favorite beach: Hammonds
Favorite hike: Rattlesnake Canyon
Who is inspiring you right now? Les Claypool; David Lynch and Sweetgrass Productions.
Which local business are you loving and why? Genuine Bread Co. Those boys make some delicious, addictive bread; and also Soho - I get to enjoy so much amazing live music at that venue.
And what is on your stereo? Jim James.
Life motto…May you live in interesting times.
